oimc_WORSHIPTwo events aimed at talking about the presence of young adults in OIMC Churches were held last month. Young adults from various churches in OIMC gathered near Lake Tenkiller and the Chickasaw Retreat and Cultural Center to share their ideas and thoughts with each other. Conversations were centered on the need of our churches to meet the needs of young adults related to Native culture, worship, social media, and much more.

Participants came up with the idea to host a “Worship Service” the weekend before Annual Conference to be engaged in mission and worship. The group talked about the importance for them to engage in outreach and mission as a part of the worship. The event will be held at Camp Canyon, May 29-31. More information will be shared soon.

Thank you to the Young Clergy Initiative which provided funds for the events to look at the recruitment of young clergy in the Church.

Come and spend the day to focus on the importance and quality of relationships in your life!

The OIMC Board of Laity is sponsoring the workshop, “Workplace Skills; Building Better Work Relationships,” on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Henryetta, located at 1212 S. Lake Road.

The Center for Healthy Relationships at John Brown University in Fayetteville, Arkansas is providing this training for the conference. The event is open to all laity and clergy. “Workplace Skills; Building Better Work Relationships” is the title of the seminar, which will be led by the Center for Healthy Relationships, located at John Brown University in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Center is providing the seminar at their expense and we are thankful for their support.

Participants will learn new techniques for results-oriented communication and will also work to identify common sources of conflict that damage all relationships. There will also be a segment that will focus on relationships in volunteerism.

Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and the program will begin at 8:45 a.m. Information for the event can be found on the web site and was also sent to pastors and lay missioners. Lunch will be provided. Click here for a brochure of the event.
