United Methodist Women
Approximately 80 OIMC United
Methodist Women are registered for the
Quadrennial Meeting to be held in
Albuquerque, New Mexico, March 28-30,
2008. The theme for the meeting is “Called
by Name as Resurrection Women” and will
be the centerpiece for guest speakers,
focus groups, music, and the sharing with
one another of how God has called each of
us to be his disciples. All United
Methodist Women are welcome and
encouraged to attend. We will also be
electing Directors for the Women’s
Division and the South Central Jurisdiction
(SCJ) Core Planning Group. The following
ladies are the Women’s Division nominees
from OIMC: Nellie Long, Elvina Poolaw,
and Becky Thompson; Alternate - Pearl
Thomas. Joyce Deere has been nominated
for the SCJ Committee on Nominations.
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s travel bus
has been reserved and will leave from the
Tribal Complex at Okmulgee, OK, at 6 p.m.
on Thursday, March 27. Ladies planning
on riding the bus should contact Ms.
Marian Mitchell ASAP to reserve a seat.
Also, the cost for riding the bus is $50. We
expect a full bus and look forward to an
exciting trip.
UMW Mission Education Event
Planning Meeting will be held at Angie
Smith UMC on Saturday, April 12. Studies
for this year’s event (July 23-26) are as
follows: Spiritual Growth Study - “I
Believe in Jesus,” Geographic Study - “Israel-Palestine,” and Mission Study - “Giving Our Hearts Away: Native
American Survival.” Registration cost is
$120, which includes study books. The
Registration form is being finalized and will
be available by May 1.
Mark your calendars and plan to
attend OIMC Day at Cookson Hills on
April 19. This will be a 60-year birthday
celebration and I hope OIMC will turn out
in record numbers to support this special
event!
