United Methodist Women

Approximately 80 OIMC United Methodist Women are registered for the
Quadrennial Meeting to be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, March 28-30,
2008. The theme for the meeting is “Called by Name as Resurrection Women” and will be the centerpiece for guest speakers, focus groups, music, and the sharing with one another of how God has called each of us to be his disciples. All United Methodist Women are welcome and encouraged to attend. We will also be electing Directors for the Women’s Division and the South Central Jurisdiction (SCJ) Core Planning Group. The following ladies are the Women’s Division nominees from OIMC: Nellie Long, Elvina Poolaw,
and Becky Thompson; Alternate - Pearl Thomas. Joyce Deere has been nominated for the SCJ Committee on Nominations. The Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s travel bus has been reserved and will leave from the
Tribal Complex at Okmulgee, OK, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 27. Ladies planning on riding the bus should contact Ms. Marian Mitchell ASAP to reserve a seat. Also, the cost for riding the bus is $50. We expect a full bus and look forward to an exciting trip.

UMW Mission Education Event Planning Meeting will be held at Angie Smith UMC on Saturday, April 12. Studies for this year’s event (July 23-26) are as follows: Spiritual Growth Study - “I Believe in Jesus,” Geographic Study - “Israel-Palestine,” and Mission Study - “Giving Our Hearts Away: Native American Survival.” Registration cost is $120, which includes study books. The Registration form is being finalized and will be available by May 1.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend OIMC Day at Cookson Hills on April 19. This will be a 60-year birthday celebration and I hope OIMC will turn out in record numbers to support this special event!
