Children’s Choir to Perform at General Conferencez

OIMC will be well represented at the 2008 General Conference at Ft. Worth,
Texas.

Rev. David Wilson, Delegation Chair, announced that the General
Conference has invited OIMC to include a Children’s Choir for one of the worship services at the Conference, on Sunday, April 27. The worship service will begin at 8 a.m.

The choir will include children from Big Cussetah, Kullichito and Boiling
Springs United Methodist churches. The three churches were among churches who participated in the children’s choirs at the 2007 OIMC Annual Conference at Preston.

Mrs. Kim McKinney of Kullichito and Mrs. Pearl Thomas of Honey Creek
United Methodist churches will coordinate the choirs.

Rev. Wilson said the choir will sing two tribal songs during the morning
worship and will join another choir in a closing hymn. They will also perform
songs during the lunch hour for gathered delegates.

“We are excited that our children will be present at the General Conference,”
Rev. Wilson said. “Our children will remind the entire assembly of our presence as Native Americans in our denomination,” he said. “I know our children will do a wonderful job and will be excellent ambassadors of OIMC.

The choir will arrive on Saturday morning for a rehearsal on Saturday afternoon and will leave on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Wilson said there will be
over 2,000 persons present at that Sunday morning worship service.
