OIMC Bids Farewell to Two Retired Pastors
Rev. Ruth Harris Jacob
Rev. Ruth Harris Jacob, retired pastor and former District Superintendent of the Southeast District, went to be with the Lord June 28, 2008 at the age of 68.
Ruth Esther Jacob was born September 22, 1939 in Valliant, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joe Jeffrey Jones and Hattie Adeline Christine Jones and lived most of her life in the Valliant area. Ruth and Isaac Jacob were wed August 1990. Ruth was the mother of four children; Ferrell Adam Harris, Jr., Simon Joe Harris and Connie Lynn Harris all deceased and Hettie “Sissie” Harris.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sissie, husband, Isaac, as well as son, Carl Jacob, daughter, Janet Jacob and brother, Moses Jones, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Ruth’s first appointment as a local pastor began in 1990 at Bobb Meyers. Since then she has served at Tohwali, White Sands Bennington and filled in at many other churches where pastoral leadership was needed as well as serving as District Superintendent.
Rev. Harvey Thedo Williams
Rev. Harvey Thedo Williams 71, of Broken Bow, went to to be with the Lord June 13, 2008. Harvey was born November 6, 1936 in Finley , Oklahoma , the son of Harvey T. and Ethel Jane (Sherred) Williams.
Harvey was a proud Army veteran. He and Mary (Basler) Colbert were united in marriage on March 9, 1985 in Finley, Oklahoma. Harvey is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons, Harvey Ted Williams, Jerry Williams; four daughters, Ethel Williams, Cathy Chapman, Sandra Jimison and Amy Johnson; two sisters and three brother-in-laws, Norma and Andy Choate, Lou and Steve Billy and Bennie Gibson, two brothers and one sister-in-law, John Dixon, Renee Williams, Mose Williams, 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Harvey’s first appointment was in 1988 at the Idabel Circuit. Since then he has served the Chickasaw Circuit, Finley Circuit, Broken Arrow and Glover Circuit as well as filling in at other places when pastoral leadership was needed.
